Gita Govinda (Sanskrit for “Herder’s Song”) — is a lyric poem composed by Jayadeva in XII century. Krishna‘s relationship with Radha and other shepherdesses (gopis) from Vrindavan are praised in this poem. Krishna, and not Vishnu, is shown as the Supreme God and the origin of all avatars.
