Nyaya (Sanskrit for “inference”) — is one of the six Hindu orthodox schools of philosophy (astika). It was founded by Gotama (or Akshapada) ca. II century BC – II century A.C. His doctrine, based mainly on logic, is set out in the Nyaya-Sutras. According to this school, there are four sources of knowledge: perception, inference, comparison, and testimony.
